The remainder of the game closed out with neither side pushing forward as the USA opted to conserve energy for the Gold Cup.

Sami Khedira and Simon Rolfes are the latest to withdraw from Joachim Low’s squad, leaving the coach with no option but to give Sebastian Rudy his first ever call-up. With Khedira, Rolfes, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sven Bender, and Christian Trasch all unavailable to play in defensive midfield, Rudy has a genuine chance to start, although Low’s other option is to advance Mats Hummels from defence to midfield.

Elsewhere, the absence of Miroslav Klose means that Mario Gomez will start as the attacking focal point. Low may experiment with his attacking options, but in all likelihood will use his tried and tested combination of Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski from the start.

Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi’s agent has revealed that negotiations with Barcelona have already begun over the transfer of the striker to Camp Nou.

The 24-year-old Italy international is one of the players reportedly on the Spanish and European champions’ radar and has said from time to time that he wants to play for a bigger club.

It now seems that Rossi’s dream of featuring for a European powerhouse could come true, as Barca have already made an approach for him, according to his agent Federico Pastorello.

“We are talking with Barcelona and Rossi would love to play for the club,” Pastorello is quoted as saying by Spanish daily AS.

Fitness Myth 1: Exercise will make you Thin

Spring has sprung, and T-shirts and strappy vests have made a comeback. If you were planning on exercising yourself slim in time for summer, then here’s some simple advice – don’t bother! Exercising to lose weight sounds like a good idea, and it should make sense: Working-out burns off calories, meaning less of what you eat gets turned into fat. However, science has shown that the reality is really quite different. It might shock you to learn that to burn off just one pound of fat will mean running from Leeds to Nottingham (or 70 miles)!

Sadly, it doesn’t get any better when it comes to sweet indulgences either; cancelling out that extra doughnut will take you nearly two hours of cycling. Exercise is fantastic for getting fitter, stronger and healthier; but sadly, getting slim is extremely unlikely unless combined with a calorie-controlled diet.

Fitness Myth 2: More is always better

Celebrities like Madonna and Elle Macpherson have proved that even 40 and 50-somethings can have a stick-thin physique. But these high-profile waifs are almost certainly wreaking havoc on their body with their gruelling regimes. Extreme-exercising could ultimately leave you with heart problems, arthritis and even hormone and fertility problems. Worryingly, some estimates have calculated world-class athletes to have a life-expectancy of 67 – which is ten years less than what it should be!

If you’re walking, running or cycling for more than five miles a day then be advised, because you could be over-stressing your body. It’s essential to make sure you get plenty of rest between workouts and if in doubt chat things over with a qualified personal trainer.

Fitness Myth 3: Getting fit means Early Mornings

Had you realised that the time of day makes a difference to how easy it is to exercise? Serious swimmers are known for heading to the pool before sunrise for a quick 50 lengths before starting their day. New research casts doubt on whether this is a sensible routine. It has been discovered that our bodies are programmed to exercise best between the hours of 4 and 5 in the afternoon. Club executive Peter Peters told  Sportinformationsdienst: “We had good talks with Bayern Munich and we also reached an idea about the economic part of an agreement.

Premier League champions United are now poised to complete a deal for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea, clearing the way for Bayern to secure the services of Neuer.

Kolo Toure suspended for 6 months after positive drugs test

The player accepted he was at fault and with that concession we agree.

The FA confirmed Toure had taken a water tablet not knowing it contained a banned substance but added that the player’s efforts to determine the exact make-up of the pills had been inadequate.

An FA statement said: ‘He was at fault in the limited and perfunctory efforts he made in relation to the water tablets; the checks he made in relation to those tablets were inadequate and fell some way below what it would be reasonable to expect of a professional footballer in these circumstances.’

The FA also announced that Toure will be target-tested for drugs sporadically for two years, starting yesterday. City will be relatively pleased with the decision.

Under regulation 32 Toure cannot participate in any football match or any other football related activity other than anti-doping education or rehabilitation programmes.

Galatasaray’s new chairman Aysal announced that they are waiting Chelsea to finish Drogba transfer to Galatasaray.

The transfer is expected to be realized in a few days.

Chelsea star Didier Drogba is a shock target for fallen Turkish giants Galatasaray – who will offer him a massive final pay day.

Drogba’s future has been in doubt since the January arrival of Fernando Torres and Galatasaray want to give him a new home and a long-term contract on over £5million-a-year.

The Ivory Coast veteran, 33, is seen as the ideal partner for Swede Johan Elmander, who is joining Gala from Bolton on a free transfer, as they throw their money about to make up for finishing a poor eighth in the domestic league this season.

Drogba is their big target and the Istanbul outfit – who have fortunes to spend – hope that Chelsea will let them open talks with the player and his agent.
